Richard A. Dankmyer
Age 97, of Apollo, formerly of Penn Hills, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Krachala) Dankmyer; loving father of Richard A. Dankmyer, Jr. (Tracy), Ronald Dankmyer (Debbie). and the late Debra Fritz (Nick surviving). Grandfather of Richard A. Dankmyer III (Gina), Nicholas M. Fritz (Brittany), and Kristy Dankmyer (Mathew Williams); great-grandfather of Nicholas Fritz (Kayla Nenoff), Aden Fritz, Ryan Williams, Rylee Dankmyer, Gabriella Williams, and Kendall Dankmyer; a great-great granddaughter will arrive in October. Son of the late John O. and Olive (Sampson) Dankmyer; brother of Joan Watt (late James), the late John Dankmyer (Velma), and Marjorie Watson (late Oliver).
Dick served in WWII Army/Air Core from 1944 - 1946. He was a member of Syria Shrine, Legon of Honor, Masonic Infinity Lodge #546 F & AM, and Scottish Rite for over 70 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 980, the VFW, and a life time member of Caravan 20. He retired from Peoples Natural Gas Company as an Office Manager and also worked for several years at the Findlay C. Wylie Funeral Home. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 2-8 p.m. at the Findlay C. Wylie Funeral Home, Inc., 11311 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Service held Monday 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment Hebron Cemetery.
