Margaret (Carr) Kearney

Age 89, of Wilkins Township, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020, surrounded by her family.  She was a True Child of Mary and a caregiver all her life, and will be truly missed.  She was the wife of the late William D. Kearney, Sr., and is survived by her devoted sons, William, Jr. & James (Anne); dearly treasured grandsons Dylan and Liam.  Margaret's Irish parents preceded her, James & Bridget Carr; and her sisters Winnie Sharkey (George), Mary Kirk (George), and surviving Catherine Fitzwilliams (late John).

A graduate of West Penn School of Nursing.  She was a neonatal nurse at Magee before being recruited to participate in West Penn's early chemo-therapy work.  After retirement, many were cared for by her in- home visits.  Her home and heart were always open to those who would benefit by her wise counsel, her Irish wit, and her no-holds-barred authenticity. 

While her health was good, she belonged to St. John Fisher's Ladies of Charity and Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Chapter Eleven.  Her life was further enhanced by her work with the Democratic Party.  Her recommendation carried a substantial voting block of her extended families - Christ, Kirk, Sharkey, and Fitzwilliams.  Margaret was treasured by her nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, Aug. 17th and Tuesday, Aug. 18th from 2-8 p.m. at the Findlay C. Wylie Funeral Home, Inc.  11311 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills.  Mass held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. at St. John Fisher.  Interment William Penn Memorial Cemetery.
